Vietnam finished third at the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Cup after drawing 1-1 with South Korea's Under-23 team at Ho Chi Minh City's Thong Nhat Stadium on Sunday.
Vietnam might have finished second behind eventual champion South Korea, had goalie Duong Hong Son not tackled a Korean striker in the penalty area.
The Vietnamese squad played with more fire than in the 1-0 defeat to Turkmenistan in the opener on Wednesday; but the Korean U23s were not so strong and the hosts could have had a better result.
Goalkeeper Tan Truong made a feeble clearance that led to the loss to Turkmenistan and Hong Son made a crucial error against South Korea.
This has left a big concern for the Vietnamese fans about who should be the goalie for Vietnam's national football team at the ASEAN Football Federation Cup, which will be co-hosted by Thailand and Malaysia from November 24 to December 22.
In the other game on Sunday, Turkmenistan beat Laos 4-2 to finish second at the tournament while Laos finished last after losing all three matches.
