Vietnam finishes 2nd at 2013 Asian youth chess tourney

Vietnamese boys and girls won 4 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze medals to finish 2nd at the 2013 Asian Youth Standard, Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships ending Thursday in Sari, Iran.

Tran Tuan Minh won gold in the Under-16 boys' rapid chess and blitz chess contests, while Le Tuan Minh took gold in the boys' U-18 rapid chess event. The other gold medalist for Vietnam was Nguyen Le Cam Hien, who won the U-6 girls' blitz chess competition.

The June 19-27 tournament attracted 270 players ages U-6 to U-18 from 15 countries and territories including China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Iraq, Syria, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and India. India finished on top of the medal tally.
