Vietnam crushed Brunei 7-0 in a Group A football match at the 27th South East Asian Games in Myanmar Sunday.

The two teams, playing their first match, were on equal terms until midway through the first half when Vu Minh Tuan opened the scoring. The first half finished 3-0.

The Vietnamese were even better after the break when they scored four more.

Brunei is considered the weakest team in the group and the Vietnamese players and coaching staff have a lot to do in the next few matches if they want to progress.

In other action, Hoang Thi Phuong Giang won a gold medal in the women's long fist category of the Wushu event Sunday after Duong Thuy Vi won Vietnam their first gold medal in the women's Jianshu category the day before.

After Sunday Myanmar were on top of the medals tally with eight golds, followed by Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam with two each.

Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, the Philippines, Brunei, and Timor-Leste have yet to win a gold medal.
