VFF appoints German coach as technical director

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on Saturday announced that it has appointed Jürgen Gede as Technical Director on a two-year contract starting on Aug. 1.
The post had not been filled since Rainer Wilfeld, another German coach, left it  in 2004.
Gede's career to date includes both technical and management positions in Germany, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, Iran, and Azerbaijan.
He was also the assistant coach for Udo Lattek (Schalke 04, 1993) and Berti Vogts (Azerbaijan national football team, 2008).
VFF said it expected Gede to help develop young players for the local leagues and national teams.
Gede in 2011 was shortlisted for the then vacant national football team coaching position, but finally lost out to another German coach, Falko Goetz.
