Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on Sunday set March 31 as the deadline for clubs to send their players lists for the 2010 Thanh Nien-sponsored Under-21 national football tournament.
VFF will put the teams in six groups based on their geographical locations in the country and announce the tournament's regulations in April.
The qualifying matches will take place from June 12-18 in six localities, most likely Nam Dinh, Nghe An, Binh Dinh (or Khanh Hoa), Ho Chi Minh City, Long Anh and An Giang (or Ca Mau).
Thirty-one teams in six groups will fight for the top place of each group to qualify for the final competition of the 14th national youth football event.
Da Nang and Gia Lai, who receive byes as defending champs and hosts respectively, will compete along with the top-placed teams from the six groups in the finals of the tournament in Pleiku, to be held from October 9-19.
