Vietnam's Nguyen Tien Minh won the 2012 Yonex Chinese Taipei Open championship after beating Tien Chen Chou of Taiwan in straight sets 21-11, 21-17 on Sunday.
Minh and Chou are ranked 13th and 43rd respectively in the Badminton World Federation rankings.
It should be noted that the Grand Prix Gold in Taiwan this year was an easier ride for Minh because the world's top players from China, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Denmark and Indonesia were not participating in it.
But the championship earned Minh US$15,000 and a significant number of points for him to return to the top 10 in BWF rankings. The highest rank he has reached so far is sixth in early 2010.
