Vietnam's badminton pride Nguyen Tien Minh jumped two places to fifth in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings released on Thursday.
The bronze medal he won at the BWF World Championships in Guangzhou, China early this month helped him take the leap. Minh, 30, had climbed to this position in December, 2010. It has been his highest ranking to date.
Tien Minh, who is the only Vietnamese player in the top 100, said the 5th spot in the world would give some advantage at international competitions.
He is now playing for Pune Pistons in the Indian Badminton League (IBL).
He told local media that he was feeling "pretty tired" after the BWF World Championships. He had been doing a lot of traveling, he added.
