Vietnam Football Federation on Tuesday decided to fine second-tier First Division club Tien Giang VND15 million for overreacting to the referee's decision, interrupting the Saturday match against hosts Quang Nam.
Assistant coach of the Mekong Delta club was fined VND10 million (US$520) and suspended for the next three matches.
Head coach Do Van Minh was fined VND5 million and suspended for the next two games.
This makes it more difficult for Tien Giang because it is now second to last out of 13 with only four points after six games.
Hai Nhan, the club's sponsor, is afraid of losing its image as a construction corporation. General Director Nguyen Anh Tuan sent a letter to Tien Giang Province authorities on Tuesday to ask that urgent measures be taken to strengthen the team.
