Nguyen Thi Thi won the yellow jersey as the fastest cyclist at the Binh Duong Water Supply-Sewerage-Environment (BIWASE) Women's International Race, which ended in Binh Duong Province on Wednesday.
The final stage from Binh Phuoc to Binh Duong was the shortest distance of the race, and the road was smooth, making it relatively easy for the leading teams to retain their positions.
The BIWASE team, Dong Thap 1 and Dong Thap 2 tried their best to take the lead while An Giang focused on helping their yellow jersey winner and blue jersey winner keep the shirts.
About 10km from the finish, Thuy Dung of the host team sped up and was the first to cross the finish line. However, Dung's stage victory didn't change the previous ratings.
The yellow jersey still went to Nguyen Thi Thi and the blue jersey for the winner of the most stages was taken by Nguyen Thi That, also of An Giang.
The white jersey for the youngest cyclist with the best result was won by Tran Kim Anh of Domesco Dong Thap.
In the team category, women cyclists from Dong Thap were dominant. Dong Thap 2 won the top spot, Can Tho was second and Dong Thap 1 third.
The 2nd edition of the BIWASE cycling competition this year attracted 60 women cyclists from 11 local teams and one team from Malaysia. The cyclists competed in six stages for a total distance of 685km.
Starting from Binh Duong on Women's Day, the 8th of March, the cyclists ran through Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Thuan, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Binh Phuoc provinces before finishing in Binh Duong.
Organizers plan to make the contest's third edition next year part of the system of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).
