Southeast Asian 800m and 1,500m champion Truong Thanh Hang finished first in the 400m race at the Borsig Track and Field Contest in Germany on Sunday June 12.
Hang, runner-up in the 800m race at the 16th Asian Games in China last year, covered the distance in 55.67 seconds. It was not her favorite event but her coach Ho Thi Tu Tam was very pleased and said Hang previously had difficulty sprinting in the first 400 meters in her 800 meter events, and showed signs of improvement now.
Vu Thi Huong took the silver medal in the 200m race at the Borsig event with a timing of 24.26, slower than her 16th Asian Games time of 23.74 seconds.
Huong's teammate Le Ngoc Phuong came in last at the Borsig race, clocking 24.84 seconds.
As planned, the three Vietnamese female runners will participate in the Pfingstsportfest contest in Rehlingen, Germany before returning to Vietnam to prepare for the Asian track and field championships to take place in Kobe, Japan from July 6-10.
