Host Vietnam lost 3-0 to Thailand at My Dinh Stadium on Tuesday despite it had an impressive draw with Iraq last week in two latest World Cup qualifying matches of Asia region.
Thailand maintained strong defense with long passes to counterattack in the beginning of the match before taking a lead in the 30th minute with a strong shot by Kroekrit Thawikan from a distance.
In the 56th minute, it was Thawikan who had a pass across the goal when Vietnam’s defender Dinh Tien Thanh unexpectedly scored a goal against the home team.
Kawin – Theerathon scored the third goal in the 70th minute to help Thailand maintains leading position in Group F with a total of 10 points after 4 matches.
Iraq ranked second with 5 points after three matches, followed by Vietnam with 4 points after 4 matches.
In the next match, Vietnam will host Taiwan at My Dinh Stadium on March 24, 2016 before playing Iraq five days later.
