Vietnam's Under-23 football team came from behind to beat Laos 3-1 on Thursday to advance to the semifinals of the SEA Games as leaders of Group B.

Laos, already out of medal contention, played in higher spirits than Vietnam and took the lead in just four minutes.

Things got worse for the Vietnamese team when central fullback Long Giang was shown a red card after tackling Lamnao Singto of Laos just outside the penalty box.

While they had more men on the field, the Lao players seemed to tire more easily and striker Dinh Tung scored the leveler for Vietnam.

Tung then made a neat pass from the right flank to striker Van Quyet who made it 2-1.

Lamnao Singto, who scored the opener for Laos, tackled Lam Anh Quang and was sent off with his second yellow card before Van Thang scored Vietnam's third goal in the match.

In another match, Malaysia beat hosts Indonesia 1-0 to take the top spot and set up a semifinal clash with Group B's second-placed Myanmar on Saturday while Vietnam will fight Indonesia for a berth in the final.
