Vietnam's number one tennis player Do Minh Quan was the only local to win a quarterfinal match at the National Men's Tennis Championships in Ho Chi Minh on Friday.
The contest's three other Vietnamese players, Ngo Quang Huy, Le Quoc Khanh and Bui Tri Nguyen, all suffered defeats.
Huy was beaten by Ketut-Nesa Arta from Indonesia while Khanh and Nguyen lost to Indonesian Christopher Rungkat and Thai Pongsiri Niroj respectively.
Quan will clash with Ketut-Nesa Arta in the semifinals on Saturday, while Christopher Rungkat and Pongsiri Niroj will fight for a berth in the finals.
The tournament is called the Tanimex Cup after the sponsor Tan Binh Import-Export Corporation Tanimex.
The event at the Tanimex Culture & Sports Tennis Club in Tan Binh Industrial Park will offer a total cash prize of US$30,000.
The men's singles champion will be awarded the trophy and a cash prize of $2,500, apart from cash prizes for wins in each round.
