Two V-League powerhouses Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) and Binh Duong are on track for the league title again this year after consecutive wins.
Binh Duong recently took three big wins in four games. After a 4-1 win over Dong Nai in the 6th round and a 4-1 victory over An Giang in the 7th round, Binh Duong players thrashed Quang Nam 5-2 on Sunday.
Binh Duong players are now in fourth place and they are likely to climb to third because they will take on underdogs Vissai Ninh Binh on home soil in the next round.
However, Binh Duong players, especially the defenders, have been careless at times.
HAGL are not as strong as Binh Duong in their attacks because they depend heavily on Nigerian striker Timothy Anjembe. It was the beefy Timothy that scored the double in the final 12 minutes to help the central highlanders earn a 2-0 home win over Mekong Delta squad An Giang on Sunday.
HAGL have been strong in recent matches because they have been fighting with high spirits and determination. Their toughness was clearly revealed in their 3-1 win over Song Lam Nghe An, a 5-3 win over Quang Nam and a 1-1 draw with Binh Duong.
