Vovinam (Vietnamese martial arts) international officials said at a meeting in Paris on Saturday that the third World Vovinam competition in Paris in July will be the biggest of its kind ever.

Dr. Vo Danh Hai, vice chairman of the World VoVinam Federation (WVVF) met with officials from the European VoVinam Federation (EVVF) and Fédération Française de Karaté et Disciplines Associées (FFKDA), which means the French Karate Federation and other Martial Arts.

The meeting heard that there would be more than 500 officials, trainers and contestants from 25-30 teams at the competition.

EVVF and FFKDA Chairman Francis Didier asked the WVVF to provide as much technical support as possible by providing grading and competition-supporting equipment as well as sending high-class Vovinam masters to France to help train the French Vovinam martial artists.

FFKDA Vice Chairman Yves Bui Xuan said, "More than 40 years ago, Vovinam began to go with Vietnamese overseas students and spread around the world and now Vovinam martial artists get together in France to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and France. That is very significant."
