Forty Vietnamese badminton players entered the Yonex-Sunrise Vietnam Open but now only Tien Minh, Vietnam's top ace, remains.

After a win over Malaysian Yee Han Chong in the first round, Vietnam's No. 2 player Nguyen Hoang Nam lost 16-21, 19-21 to Indonesian rival Rumbaka in the second round at the August 20-26 event in Ho Chi Minh City.

Nam's failure makes the 29-year-old Tien Minh, ranked 11th globally, the only remaining Vietnamese player at the contest. In the second round, top seed Minh beat Indonesian contestant Riyanto Subagja 21-14, 21-16.

The Vietnam Open has attracted a total 323 players from 12 delegations including Japan, South Korea, France, Australia and Canada.
