Vietnam's number one lifter Hoang Anh Tuan finished fourth in the men's 56kg category at the 2010 World Weightlifting Championships in Antalya, Turkey on Saturday.
Tuan could only lift a total 273 kg, far below the 290 kg that earned him the silver medal at the 2008 Olympics in China.
Chinese lifter Wu Jingbiao successfully defended his title by lifting a total 292kg while another Chinese lifter Long Qingquan, who lifted a total 292kg and won the gold medal at the 2008 Olympics, could only lift 288kg and finished second.
Weightlifter Cha Kum Chol from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea took the bronze in Antalya by lifting a total 280kg.
The fourth place finish was a major disappointment for Tuan after he spent five months training abroad in preparation and arrived in Antalya early enough to adjust to the local environment.
