Vietnam’s No.1 badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh defeated Malaysian Zulfadli Zulkiffli to win men’s single title at the 2015 Sydney International badminton tournament on Saturday.
The 32-year-old player from Ho Chi Minh City had a dominating 2-0 win (21/11, 21/12) over the No.1 seed Zulkiffli in 32 minutes.
Minh was seeded No.2 at the tournament and ranked 38 by Badminton World Federation (BWF).
In previous rounds, Minh had five wins, all 2-0 with distant set points.
It was Minh’s latest title since he was crowned at the 2014 US Open Championships.
In men’s doubles category, Jagdish Singh and Wee Long Roni Tan of Malaysia defeated Wei Chen Liu and Po Han Yang of Taiwan to win the title.
Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand won women’s single title while her compatriots, Jongkolphan Kititharakul Rawinda Prajongjai win women’s doubles title.
Mixed-doubles title was claimed by Robin Middleton and Leanne Choo of the UK.
