Martial artist Nguyen Hoang Ngan only earned the kata silver medal after losing 0-5 to Venezuelan rival Yohana Sanchez in the final at the World Karatedo Championship in Belgrade, on Sunday.

Hoang Ngan was expected to take the gold medal after she outplayed the world-five-time champion Japanese Rika Usami in the semi-finals.

This is not Ngan's best result because she has won several gold medal on the world stage.

Ngan and her teammates will return to Vietnam on Tuesday to train under Japanese expert Hase Me in preparation for the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China late this month.
