Vietnamese American football star Lee Nguyen arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday in a brand promotion trip and he is expected to verify information that he may return to Vietnam’s top flight V.League.
Arriving at Tan Son Nhat Airport with his American girlfriend, the US Major League Soccer player refused to answer the media under agreements with the brand’s owner.
The 29-year-old footballer is scheduled to join an event to promote tourism and food in the city.
He is expected to talk to the media on Saturday about whether he would play for V.League.
Lee Nguyen played for Hoang Anh Gia Lai from 2009-2010 and Becamex Binh Duong from 2010-2011.
From 2012, he played for New England Revolution and scored 32 goals in 122 matches.
Despite his contributions to the US club, his salary has not been reconsidered and this may be the reason for him to consider returning to V.League, Vietnamese media reported.
His representative has been negotiating with several clubs in Mexico and Vietnam recently.
