A 1-0 victory over visitors Hoa Phat Hanoi at Thien Truong Stadium in V-League ninth round on Sunday lifted Nam Dinh off the bottom for the first time this season.
Meanwhile, top-placed Hanoi T&T was held to a goalless draw on home soil at by tough rivals Nghe An.
The 3-1 home win over Dong Tam Long An (DTLA) a week before seemed to have boosted the confidence of Nam Dinh players.
They launched relentless attacks and exerted a lot of pressure on the visitors from the capital.

With seven points, Nam Dinh with seven points climbed one place off the bottom while losers Hoa Phat Hanoi slid two places to ninth with 11 points.
Hanoi T&T still remained on top with 19 points after a scoreless home tie with Nghe An, who jumped two places to eighth with 11 points.
However, Hanoi T&T is just one point clear of defending champs Da Nang, who earned a 2-1 home victory over DTLA at Chi Lang Stadium. Da Nang still has a match in hand because its second-round match against Dong Thap was postponed until May 19.
DTLA's loss to Da Nang on Friday was the fifth in a row, which nailed the 2005-06 champions to 12th spot, third to last, with only eight points.
Khanh Hoa, the 2007-08 champions Binh Duong and Dong Thap continued to be in third, fourth and fifth spots with 17, 16 and 14 points respectively after wins in this round.
The 1-2 defeat to Khanh Hoa pushed Hai Phong Cement one place down to seventh with 11 points while the 2003-04 champs Hoang Anh Gia Lai remained in 11th with 10 points after the 0-1 loss to Dong Thap.
A 1-3 home defeat to the league runners-up Binh Duong at Thong Nhat Stadium pushed Navibank Saigon down to the bottom with six points.
Ninh Binh moved up three places to sixth with 14 points after a 4-2 home win over Thanh Hoa, who fell two spots to 10th with 11 points.
