Vietnam's number one badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh was eliminated form the Swiss Open Super Series quarterfinals by Chinese rival Jin Chen in straight sets on Friday.
The seventh-ranked Vietnamese did his best in Basel and was on equal terms with the fourth-ranked Chinese until nine points in the first set.
But Chen wore Minh out and cruised home to take the set 21-16 without much difficulty.
Chen was more accurate in his attacks in the second set, making it even more difficult for Minh. Chen won the set 21-11 and took a win after 49 minutes.
2010 has not been a good year for Minh so far. He lost to the 20th-ranked Japanese Kenichi Tago in straight sets at the All England Super Series in Birmingham on March 10.
Tago went all the way to the finals and only lost to the world number one Malaysian Lee Chong Wei.
However, winning a quarterfinal berth in Basel has at least secure Minh's no. 7 spot in the Badminton World Federation's male rankings.
