Vietnam's top badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh crashed out of the Yonex Open Chinese Taipei 2010 after a straight sets loss to Indonesian Simon Santoso in the semifinals on Saturday.

The top seeded, seventh-ranked Vietnamese struggled to hold his own in the fight against the third seeded, eighth-ranked Indonesian for a final berth at the August 3-8 Grand Prix Gold contest.

In the first set of the competition that carries a US$200,000 cash prize,  Minh was on equal terms with Simon until 16-16, but failed to win another point, losing 16-21.

Minh, the only Vietnamese to enter the Badminton World Federation top 100, fought hard to keep pace with Simon but the Indonesian proved calmer and tougher, taking the second set 21-18.
