Vietnam's badminton ace Nguyen Tien Minh lost 14-21, 17-21 to the world number one Malaysian Lee Chong Wei in the semifinfals of the Yonex-Sunrise Hong Kong Super Series on Saturday.
Minh has so far met Lee six times and suffered five defeats. The only win over the Malaysian was at the Singapore Open in 2009.
In the quarterfinals, 9th-ranked Minh had been expected to have a tough time getting past a big rival from China, Lin Dan, who won the gold medal at the Asian Games 2010 last month.
However, Lin Dan, ranked seventh in the world, withdrew from the event right before the match against Minh due to injury, and Minh earned a semis berth without breaking into sweat.
