Minh Nguyet’s hat-trick sends Vietnam to AFF Championship’s semifinal

Crushing the Philippines 4-0 to win the first place in Group B, host Vietnam will play Thailand at the semifinal of the regional ASEAN Football Federation Women’s Championship.
After Tuyet Dung scored a hat-trick against Malaysia on May 4, it was Minh Nguyet’s turn to score three goals against the Philippines at Thong Nhat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday.
In the 3rd minute, Do Thi Yen’s header hit the pole and Minh Nguyet was at the right position where the ball bounced off to score the opening goal for Vietnam.
In the 11th minute, Tuyet Dung had a good pass for Thuy Trang to score the second goal.
Minh Nguyet had her second goal in the 27th minute and completed the hat-trick in the 37th minute with a penalty.
Vietnam lowered the speed and was unable to score any more goal in the second half.
Vietnam’s Coach Norimatsu Takashi said his players will be quite able to defeat Thailand in the semifinal on Friday May 8, if they maintain good skills as seen in group matches.
Vietnam leads Group B with nine points after three matches, scoring 14 goals and losing two.
In the other semifinal match, U20 Australia will play Myanmar, also on May 8. The final match and third-place playoff will be on May 10.
