Brazilian club Matsubara won the Becamex IDC Cup for the second time after 2007, beating hosts Binh Duong 2-0 in the final at the Go Dau Stadium on Saturday.
More than twenty thousand people filled the stadium and provided strong support for the hosts, motivating them to launch a lot of attacks.
The visitors from Brazil were content to play defensive football for the most part, but prevailed in the final minutes of the game with Paulo Fereirra converting two free kicks.
Matsubara won the trophy and a cash prize of US$20,000 while runners-up Binh Duong received $10,000. Binh Duong's Philani won the "tournament's best player" title while their newly signed Nigerian striker Udo Fortune won the "best scorer" title with four goals.
Saigon Xuan Thanh, who have just been promoted from Vietnam's second-tier First Division to the top-tier V-League, finished third after beating Ugandan club SC Villa 1-0.
