Vietnam's badminton ace Nguyen Tien Minh lost straight sets to Japan's Sho Sasaki at the U.S. Open men's singles final in Los Angeles Sunday morning Hanoi time.

The 9th-ranked, third seed, Vietnamese hometown hero was expected to beat the 15th-ranked, seventh seed, from Japan. Minh had beaten Sasaki four out of five times they had met, only losing once at the Australian Open in April.

The sweep means Minh still hasn't won an international yet this year.
