Liverpool FC legend and club ambassador Robbie Fowler joined local kids at a football skills session in Ho Chi Minh City Wednesday during his trip to Vietnam.
The former striker provided participating kids with top tips and advice during the one-hour event, held at a sports field inside the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology’s Saigon South Campus on late afternoon.
He also acted as player and coach in a friendly match between local former players.
Fowler, 39, arrived in the city on Tuesday evening to a “fantastic” fan reception.
He admitted not knowing much about local football, except the national team’s recent lost to Malaysian at the 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup’s semifinal and its flourishing talents in the field.
Liverpool FC has 48 social pages in 48 different languages for millions of fans around the world, in which Vietnam is a key market in Asia region, says the club’s Director of International Business Development Jonathan Kane at the Wednesday ceremony.
