Barcelona football stars, including Messi, Neymar and Suarez, may visit Vietnam for a friendly match next year, local media reported.
The club’s officials and a player will arrive in Hanoi next week to sign a contract with the Saigon-Hanoi Commercial Joint-stock Bank (SHB), according to Do Quang Hien, the bank chairman and also chairman of V.League club Hanoi T&T.
The lineup for the club's Asian tour next year is not decided yet.
Hien said that he could not negotiate for Barcelona to visit Vietnam this year due to the club’s busy schedule as many team members will play at EURO and Copa America.
In the long term, "we may discuss about Barcelona’s support for a football academy in Vietnam," he said.
Hien said he has been negotiating with the Spain club for the past year and the process has been accelerated recently, especially after Manchester City’s Vietnam trip last year, which was coordinated by SHB.
Meanwhile, representatives from Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United are also scheduled to arrive in Vietnam this month to discuss opportunities to cooperate and open football school, Zing news website reported.
