Indonesian fighters make up the largest contingent of international competitors at the second World Vovinam (Vietnamese martial art) Competition from July 27-31, according to the organizers.
Vietnam entered 42 fighters and 5 officials to this year's competition in Ho Chi Minh City. Indonesia, on the other hand, entered 29 competitors and 17 officials.
Iran, home of the Asian Vovinam Federation, entered 28 martial artists into the competition.
Last year, the Middle Eastern nation held the very first Asian Vovinam Championship.
Laos, Russia, Cambodia, Agleria, Italy and France also sent teams to this year's competition, which will include 231 competitors and 86 officials, all told.
Argentina, Britain and Australia, meanwhile, dispatched officials to the World Vovinam Federation meeting to develop the sport in their countries in the future.
On Wednesday, the international visitors will welcome a delegation of international coaches and sporting officials at the Vovinam Founder's House at 31 Su Van Hanh Street in Ho Chi Minh City's District 10.
In related news, a training course for international Vovinam coaches and referees began at the Ho Chi Minh City's Phu Tho Sports Center on July 23. The course will provide trainees with updated rules, regulations, responsibilities and rights of the referees and grading guides.
The organizers will issue certificates to the trainees and begin planning the 2nd World Vovinam Competition.
