The 2016 Kiteboard Tour Asia - X-Championships began in Ninh Chu on the central coast Thursday. Ninh Chu is 150km from Mui Ne, the tournament host in 2012.
The KTA X-Champs will be a series of three events, each with two races and a freestyle competition. The first event is in Ninh Chu while the venues for the other two are yet to be confirmed.
The event warmed up with a starboard standup paddle surfing competition.

Organizers will award prize money of US$5,000-15,000 per round, including for top 3 men/women riders in each category.

All rounds will count towards the Asian Championships as well as IKA world ranking points.

The event also offers a chance for Ninh Thuan to promote its beautiful 7-km-long tropical beach.

Vietnam's Nguyen Quoc Hoa finished first in the starboard standup paddle surfing race.

Germany's Marine Duprat finished first in the women’s race.
