Kien Giang's 5-1 home blowout to Hai Phong Sunday has pushed the bottom feeder Mekong Delta squad one step closer to relegation, especially after Binh Duong's home win.
The V-League's bottom side Kien Giang was expected to fight for a home win to cling to the hope of avoiding relegation but the team played lazily and the visitors took the game handily and easily.
Binh Duong, second from the bottom, came back from behind to take a 2-1 win at Go Dau Stadium over visitors Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA), who slid to second place with 32 points.
Jamaican striker Kavin Bryan scored the opener to put SLNA in the lead three minutes from half time, but Trinh Quang Vinh scored the leveler for Binh Duong in the final seconds of the first half.
The hosts created several scoring chances after the break but the home strikers wasted them all before Huynh Kesley came off the bench to score the winner for the hosts 15 minutes from full time.
The fight between Binh Duong and title contenders SLNA was fierce and the loss upset SLNA fans and some of them threw bottles on the field.
With 19 points, Binh Duong is now still second from bottom but it is six points clear of Kien Giang while there are only four rounds to go this season and only one team is to be relegated to the second flight.
In other action, Hanoi T&T climbed to the top spot with 34 points after beating hosts Dong Nai 4-0 while reigning champs Da Nang are in third place with 31 points after drawing 3-3 with hosts Xuan Thanh Saigon at Ho Chi Minh City's Thong Nhat Stadium on Saturday.
