Japan will be one of the teams competing in the international under-19 football tournament for the Nutifood Cup in Ho Chi Minh City next January, the Vietnam Football Federation said Monday.

The Japanese are a strong team and a contender for the 2014 Asian Football Confederation Championship after finishing top of Group I with a clean slate in the qualifiers earlier this year.

Earlier Spanish giant Barcelona said they would send their U19 team to the Ho Chi Minh City tournament.

VFF Vice Chairman Le Hung Dung said the organizers are waiting for a reply from English club Arsenal, whose U19 team are competing at the UEFA Youth League and leading Group F with eight points from four matches.
