Japan retain U19 Asian women's football title

Japanese teenagers successfully retained the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-19 Women's Championship by hammering hosts Vietnam 6-0 in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday.

The Japanese girls were held to a draw in the opening game by China but won their next four matches in a row to earn 13 points and finish on top at the six-team tournament.

The U19 girls from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea had to settle for the second spot a point adrift of Japan while China finished third with eight points.

The Republic of Korea came in fourth followed by Australia in the fifth position and hosts Vietnam who finished last.
