HCMC tops national table tennis championship

Ho Chi Minh City players won four gold medals and topped the 2011 National Table Tennis Championships that ended in Hai Duong Province on Friday.

After ensuring their team won gold medals in the women's team and doubles events, Mai Hoang Mai Trang and Tran Huy Bao beat Huy Hoang-Hong Tam of T&T Club to win the mixed doubles title for HCMC as well.

Trang went on to defeat Thien Kim from Tien Giang Province in straight sets to win the singles title.

Tran Tuan Quynh of T&T Club dethroned Doan Kien Quoc of Petro Vietnam 4-1 to take the men's singles title, while the Army athletes won the men's team championship. Ho Ngoc Thuan and Dao Duy Hoang of Petro Vietnam won the men's doubles title.
