Seven billiards players from Ho Chi Minh City will compete at the 2011 carom 3-cushion World Cup in Suwon, Seoul from August 28 till September 5.

The Vietnamese competitors are: 35-ranked Ma Xuan Cuong;  47th-ranked Ly The Vinh; 49th-ranked Duong Anh Vu; 170th-ranked Tran Chi Thanh; 248th-ranked Chu Binh Giang; and two other invited players Ho Hoang Hung and Le Hoang Mai Phuoc.

The event, which attracts more than 100 players from around the world, including those in the top 15, is a good opportunity for Vietnamese players to test their skills in preparation for the 26th South East Asian Games in Indonesia in November as well as improve their world rankings.

At the 2007 Suwon World Cup, Tran Chi Thanh made good headway by finishing as the runner-up. That is the best achievement for a Vietnamese player so far.
