HCMC, Hanoi take table tennis titles

Hanoi won the men's team table tennis category at the National Physical Training and Sports Championships after beating the Military team 3-2 at the finals in the Mekong Delta Province of Tien Giang on Thursday.

Quang Linh of the Military team beat Kien Quoc of Hanoi 3-0 in the first match, but Hanoi's Tuan Quynh beat Thanh Luan of the Military 3-1 in the second match.

In the third match, Van Nam of the Military defeated Nam Hai of Hanoi 3-1 before Tuan Quynh of Hanoi leveled again with a 3-1 win over Military's Quanh Linh.

In the decider, Hanoi's Kien Quoc beat Thanh Luan from Military 3-1 to help Hanoi earn the men's team gold medal.

The women's team title went to Ho Chi Minh City players who came back from a match down to the Military women.

Ho Chi Minh City players also took the women's doubles championship after duo Xuan Hang and My Trang needed only about 25 minutes to beat Viet Linh and Tuong Giang of the Public Security team in straight sets.

Hanoi duo Tuan Huynh and Nam Hai snatched the men's doubles gold for the capital side after a straight sets win over Quang Linh and Thanh Luan of the Military.

The mixed doubles gold and silver medals went to the Military team. Quang Linh and Luong Thi Tam came from two sets down to beat Thanh Luan and Vu Thi Ha 3-2.
