Nearly 6,400 locals and foreigners took part in the second Ho Chi Minh City Run, an event aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle in the community, last Sunday morning.
The participants gathered on Nguyen Khac Vien Street in District 7 very early for 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km races in two categories, professional and amateur.
In the men’s races, Hoang Nguyen Thanh won the 21 km event for professionals and Nguyen Dang Khoa won the amateur category.
Lam Thi Thuy won the first prize in the half marathon for professional women while Nguyen Dang Thanh Thuy won the amateur race.
Le Yen Linh, who finished the 21 km race in around two hours, told Thanh Nien News afterwards, “This event drew a large number of participants and so I think it realized the aim of encouraging people, especially youth, to exercise more.
“Some young people may prefer exercising in the gym, but I believe running outdoors is much more interesting.
“I went to a running club managed by the HCMC Run’s organizers every Saturday for six months before the race. It was a lot of fun.”
The 2015 HCMC Run, dubbed “Conquer the Phu My Bridge,” was organized by Pulse Active Company.
The company, established in 2013, has organized several major events like the 2013 HCMC Run, Color Me Run, the 2014 Da Nang International Marathon and the 2014 Prisma Run.
