Hanoi tops national wushu shanshou contest

Hanoi martial artists topped the 2011 National Wushu Shanshou Championship that concluded Sunday in the Central Highlands town of Buon Ma Thuot.

The athletes from the capital city won a total of seven golds, two silvers and one bronze medal, well ahead of second-placed Thai Nguyen Province with two gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

Tuyen Quang Province came in third with two gold and two bronze medals.

The April 5-10 event in Dak Lak Province attracted a total of 160 martial artists from 25 cities, provinces and agencies from around the country competing in 10 men's and eight women's categories.

Martial artists from Hanoi also finished top at the Taolu contest which took place in Ho Chi Minh City from March 31 till April 2.

The national Taolu and Shanshou teams will gather soon to train in preparation for the Asian Junior Wushu Championships in Shanghai, China in August, the World Wushu Championships in Turkey in October and the 26th Southeast Asian Games in Indonesia in November.
