The new national football coaching team was introduced in Hanoi on Friday right after the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) signed a contract with coach Phan Thanh Hung of V-League side Hanoi T&T.
The assistant coaches are Hoang Anh Tuan of Khatoco Khanh Hoa, Nguyen Van Sy of Vissai Ninh Binh and Nguyen Van Phung of Saigon Xuan Thanh. Assistant coach Phung will be in charge of training goalkeepers.
The assistant coach in charge of physical training is Dylan Kerr, who used to work for British football club Leeds United and is now with V-League side Khatoco Khanh Hoa.
The coaching staff will be in charge of the national football team at the ASEAN Football Federation Cup 2012 and the qualifying round for Asian Cup 2015 before preparing the Under-23 team for the 27th South East Asian Games to be held in Myanmar next year.
Coach Hung's salary was not announced.
VFF Vice Chairman Nguyen Lan Trung said it was the first time Vietnamese coaches have been chosen to take charge of the national football team and the U23 team, indicating great improvements in domestic coaching.
The federation will create favorable condition for the teams to prepare and compete, he said. Coach Hung said the coaching staff and the players would work hard and try to reach the final of AFF Cup 2012.
