V-League champs Da Nang crushed National Cup winners Xuan Thanh Saigon 4-0 at Chi Lang Stadium to win the Super Cup title on Saturday.

The home team launched relentless attacks to create lots of scoring chances and converted four of them to take a big win.

The home spectators, who filled the stadium, had a chance to cheer when winger Quoc Anh scored the opener after only two minutes.

The visitors from Ho Chi Minh City created some chances but failed to score a leveler. It indicated that the National Cup holders are much weaker since their 2012 best striker Huynh Kesley who moved to the 2007-2008 V-League champs Binh Duong at the end of last season.

The two sides continued their attacks in the second half but the hosts Da Nang looked the better side with excellent performances by midfielders Minh Phuong and Nguyen Sa.

After wasting several chances, Argentine striker Gaston Merlo doubled the score for the hosts midway through the half and Quoc Anh scored his second goal less than three minutes later before Tanzanian striker Danny David made it 4-0 for Da Nang in the final minutes of the game.

The easy win over the strong rival Xuan Thanh Saigon showed that Da Nang is well prepared to defend their V-League title.
