V-League runners-up Binh Duong had a lucky scoreless draw in an away match against Malaysia’s Selangor at Shah Alam Stadium in an opening match of the Asian Football Confederation Cup on Tuesday.
Despite having some excellent foreign players in the squad, Binh Duong looked out of sorts against the hosts.
The players could have been tired after they beat Khanh Hoa 1-0 to book a berth in the National Cup quarters back home on Friday.
The Vietnamese side enjoyed greater ball possession but couldn’t make serious goal scoring cances while the home team was able to launch several dangerous attacks.
However, Binh Duong custodian The Anh saved three clear chances that Selangor had, while two other shots by the home team hit the post and the bar.
In the other Group F match, Maldivian club Victory SC and Indonesia’s Sriwijaya also played a goalless draw.
