Both Binh Duong and Da Nang earned wins in their fourth matches at the first round of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup on Tuesday.
V-League runners-up Binh Duong took a 2-1 home victory at Go Dau Stadium over Sriwijaya from Indonesia while V-League champs Da Nang grabbed a 2-1 away win over Wofoo Tai Po in Hong Kong.
Sriwijaya had beaten the 2007-2008 V-League champions 1-0 in Indonesia two weeks earlier, and the match Tuesday was not an easy win.
Binh Duong, who made its way to the semifinals of the second-tier Asian contest, is now tied with the Indonesian side with seven points, but Sriwijaya is in second place in Group F on goal difference.
Da Nang has already booked a berth in the second round of the regional competition by winning all four matches and topping Group H with 12 points.
