V-League runners-up Binh Duong hammered Maldivian club Victory SC 3-0 at Go Dau Stadium in the second round of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup on Tuesday.
The home win put the Vietnamese side in second place in Group F of the region's second-tier contest after Indonesian club Sriwijaya thrashed Malaysia's Selangor 6-1 in another match.
Binh Duong coach Mai Duc Chung was not very pleased with the players' performance.
"I'm pleased with the result but not with my players' performance. The strikers wasted several clear chances and the defenders proved weak several times. We would have conceded at least a goal if the visitors had played better."
Victory's coach Suzain Ali said his team lost because the hosts were superior. He said, "Binh Duong has more foreign players and their local players did a good job too.
"My players are just semi-professional. They play football but they also do other jobs to earn a living. So they can't be as good as the hosts."
