Becamex Binh Duong lost 3-0 to host Jiangsu Suning in a Group E match on Wednesday and was eliminated from the AFC Champions League.
Brazilian striker Alex Teixeira had an impressive performance, contributing to all the three goals.
Wu Xi opened the scoring after just six minutes before Jo added a second shortly after that.
Jiangsu’s dominance lessened in the second half but they still added a third goal.
The victory helped Jiangsu Suning move into second in Group E as they edged closer to a spot in round 16 of the AFC Champions League Round.
With Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors also defeating Tokyo FC by the same score, the group is tightly poised ahead of the final round of group stage with just two points separating leaders Jeonbuk and third placed Tokyo FC.
Despite being disqualified for the knock-out stage, Becamex Binh Duong will play against Tokyo FC on May 4 in their last group match.
“It will be extremely important to us. We will play at our best to reward our fans,” Coach Nguyen Thanh Son said.
