The Under-19 draw result that the Asian Football Confederation announced on Sunday looks to be tough for the Vietnamese team who will compete against Japan, UAE and Jordan in Group C.
At the 2010 AFC U19 championships, due to take place in Shangdong from October 3-17, hosts China will clash with Syria, Thailand and Saudi Arabia in Group A. Uzbekistan, Iraq, Bahrain and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea will compete in Group B while Group D will see Australia, Yemen, Iran and the Republic of Korea battle it out.
The best four teams at the event this year will go through to the FIFA Under-20 World Cup contest next year.
To prepare for the competition, the Vietnamese team will gather in July for a Southeast Asian Under-19 Open with participants from Thailand, Australia and the Republic of Korea, planned to take place in Ho Chi Minh City. After the open event, the Vietnamese U19s will train together until they leave for the regional event in China.
