Nguyen Thi Anh Vien won three gold medals on the first day of the National Swimming Championships in Da Nang on Thursday in her first national competition after two years.
from October 15-19 as she returned to the national competition after a two-year absence.
In women’s 200m individual backstroke, the 19-year-old swimmer finished in 2:17.15 to win the gold medal, even though it was far behind her best personal record of 2:12.25.
Anh Vien, who competed for the Military team, also bagged two gold medals in 200m medley and 4x100 relay.
After the first day at the event, which will last until Oct. 19, Ho Chi Minh City ranked first with 3 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals, followed by the Military team with 3 gold and 2 silver medals.
After the national championships, Anh Vien will return to the FINA World Cup series with three stages in Tokyo, Doha and Dubai.
