Vietnam will proceed to the semifinals after defeating Myanmar 2-0 on Monday to take top position in Group B at the 2015 AFF Youth Championships in Vientiane.
Myanmar, who needs at least a draw to advance to the semi, put pressure on Vietnam right after the match kicked off at the Laos National Stadium.
However, it was Vietnam opened the scoring in the 41st minute when Duy Khanh got a long pass and defeated Myanmar goalkeeper Thisar Min to give Vietnam the lead.
In the 75th minute, Duc Chinh missed a goal after receiving a pass from Trong Hoa at a clear position but his header went over the bar.
But three minutes later, Duc Chinh was in the right place to slot home another chance.
Vietnam lead Group B with 10 points after 4 matches, followed by Malaysia with 7 points.
In the semis on September 2, Vietnam will face host Laos while Malaysia will play against Thailand.
The final and third place play-off matches are scheduled on September 4.
