The Philippines Patriots dominated the fourth quarter to halt the Saigon Heat's ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) win streak, defeating the home team 73-57 at Tan Binh Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City Wednesday.
The Heat stayed within striking distance of the Patriots most of the game, but too many turnovers made a comeback impossible as the Patriots showed why they are currently leading the ABL.
The sold-out stadium broke into rapturous applause in the second quarter when the hosts took the lead 30-25 behind the the play of Jonathan Jones, who led the Heat with 28 points and 13 rebounds.
But a fourth straight victory was not to be.
"We're a very tired team right now," said Heat head coach Jason Rabedeaux played their third game in six days.
Despite the loss, Saigon's fans remain optimistic about the Heat's chances to finish the league season among the top spots.
The Heat next take on Indonesia Warriors at Tan Binh Stadium on Saturday before heading back on the road.
