Old soldiers never die, they just get a new name
There will be no football club called Fourth Military Zone in the V-League next season, club coach Vu Quang Bao said on Tuesday.

Given the way things work in the military, the club has decided it can no longer field a viable side in Vietnam’s top-tier football league by going it alone.

“Navibank has bought the club, so the club will be called Navibank. I and all the players will also be managed by the bank,” Bao told Thanh Nien.

HCMC-based Navibank will make a public announcement of the new name in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday, he added.

Fourth Military Zone, which is based in Nghe An Province on the upper central coast, is the second cash-strapped military side to lose its familiar name of late.

National army team The Cong was renamed after its long-time sponsor Viettel last month.
